Tips for Moving to Greenville

Researching neighborhoods and checking out the local schools are common first to-do’s when moving to a new city. And you’re in luck because Greenville has a variety of neighborhoods to fit any individual’s or family’s needs, plus some of South Carolina’s best schools.

But what about everything else? One of our insider tips is to research your commute, especially if you’re going to be heading to and from work during rush-hour traffic. Some problem routes to be aware of are I-385, which is undergoing extensive construction, and Woodruff Road, which sees a high volume of traffic during these commute times.

How to Get Settled into Greenville, South Carolina

There is so much to do in Greenville and with our mild climate which averages 60 degrees, you can participate in outdoor activities year-round. Some of our favorites include taking advantage of the trails and greenways that wind through the city, teeing off at one of the more than 30 area golf courses, and fishing at the 56,000 acre, Lake Hartwell.

Falls Park on the Reedy also is a wonderful place to enjoy the great outdoors, the 32-acre park is adjacent to downtown in the historic West End district. In addition to all of the outdoor activities, you’ll have access to in Greenville, living here means that you’re only about 50 miles from access to snowboarding, skiing, and white-water rafting.

Our community also takes pride in supporting our local sports teams:

  • The Greenville Drive (Single A minor league baseball)
  • The Swamp Rabbits (Minor league ice hockey)

And both collegiate and professional sports fans are just a short drive away from Clemson University, the University of South Carolina, the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves. Greenville, SC also offers a vibrant arts community so be sure to visit the Bob Jones Museum and Gallery and the Greenville County Museum of Art – you won’t be disappointed. Once settled, we recommend spending a weekend exploring downtown Greenville and visiting the various shops and restaurants that line Main Street!
